Laurel's Corn Bread

This probably came from Laurel's Kitchen.

2 cups of cornmeal
1/2 cup wheat germ
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon oil
1 egg
2 cups buttermilk or sour milk

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Grease and flour an 8 inch square pan.
Mix the dry ingredients.
Mix the liquid ingredients
Combine everything gently and pour into the pan.
Bake for about 20-25 minutes.

It's just what I was looking for! Thanks! But is says "1 teaspoon baking powder" and then "1/2 teaspoon baking powder"...in my memory both baking powder and baking soda are used but which is which?

Oh my! Thanks for pointing that out. Most probably the second one is baking soda. I will check for sure and edit my post. I hope you enjoy the cornbread. You should check out "laurel's kitchen". You can see the cover of that book on my side bar.
